Many mobile applications, such as SMS/MMS clients (Short Messaging Service/Multimedia Messenging Service), browsers and music players, come pre-installed on mobile phones. Other apps are downloaded free or purchased later by users who can download the applications over the wireless network and then install them themselves. (In some cases, users can have apps loaded and installed by the mobile operator).
